Slot Machine positioning
Posted in Slots on 02/07/2016 10:21 am by DarnellBooks have been said on this subject, and the debates and ruckus about where the "hot" slot machines are located in a casino are still ongoing – over sixty years after slot machines were 1st installed in gambling dens.
The standard rule is that the better slots were installed just inside the main entry of the casino; so that persons passing by would see actual jackpot winners and be inspired to come into the casino and play. Our deduction is that this is no longer the case.
The majority of the mega casinos these days are titanic complexes … you can no longer see inside from the sidewalk, so there’s no longer a reason to situate the ‘loose’ slot machines near any of the doors.
An additional standard rule is that loose slot machines are positioned on the major aisles in the casinos, again so that more potential gamblers could see winning jackpots and be galvanized to play. Importantly though, we find that this also is no longer a universal rule.
What casinos found over the years is that people walking down the busy aisles were frequently on the way to somewhere else. If they played slot machine games at all, they would simply put in their loose change because they happened to be walking by. Win or lose, they would very often not stop to keep playing. And the last thing a casino wants is for someone to win a jackpot by playing only a few coins and then not stay to put it all back in!
These days, casinos are constantly changing their philosophy about where to place the loose slot machine games.
