Slot Machine positioning
Posted in Slots on 12/06/2024 12:25 pm by DarnellBooks have been said on this subject, and the debates and disagreement about where the "hot" slot games are located in a casino are still rampant – sixty years after the slot machines were first placed in gambling houses.
The standard rule is that the better slot games were placed just inside the entrance of the casino; so that everyone walking by would see jackpot winners and be inspired to come unto the gambling floor … play. Our inference is that this is definitely no longer so.
Many of the mega casinos nowadays are jumbo complexes … it is not possible to see inside from the sidewalk, so there is no longer a reason to have the ‘loose’ one armed bandits near to any entrances.
Yet another traditional rule is that loose slot games are positioned on the major aisles inside the casinos, again so that more people could see winning jackpots and be motivated to play. However, we find that this also is no longer a universal rule.
What casinos found over the years is that people walking down the busy aisles were frequently on the way to somewhere else. If they played slot machine games at all, they would simply put in their loose change because they happened to be walking by. Win or lose, they would very often not stop to keep playing. And the last thing a casino wants is for someone to win a jackpot by playing only a few coins and then not stay to put it all back in!
These days, casinos are constantly changing their perspective about where to place the loose one armed bandits.
